Description
Pteranodon sp.
Pterosaur
Late Cretaceous
Niobrara Chalk
Kansas, USA
Big 396mm lower jaw. Old-school prep style set in 525mm plaster matrix. Very solid. Very rare.
Pteranodon is perhaps the most widely-recognized pterosaur but its fragile remains are actually very rare finds in the Niobrara Chalk. Many collectors are happy to obtain an identifiable bone end. Occasionally, something more substantial like this jaw comes on the market.
Here the lovely Selena presents this well-centered specimen. A fantastic addition to a private display of vertebrates.
