Durania ehrenbergii
Miocene
Braunkohle Lignite
Adendorf, Rhineland Germany.
11mm fruit from coal deposit.
Plant.
Durania is a plant genus that was based on an extinct Oligocene fruit from the Oligocene of Germany but one researcher later identified the fruit as belonging to the modern genus Rehderodendron. It’s unclear if this has become the prevailing view
Durania is also a genus of rudist, a Cretaceous mollusc. A genus can be valid as both a plant and an animal but it can be erected for only one taxon per kingdom.
