Description
Nuthetes destructor Owen
Early Cretaceous (Berriasian)
Chevres-Richemont Quarry
Chevres-de-Cognac, Charente, SW France
Extremely rare 15mm theropod.
Nuthetes is a theropod known only from teeth and jaw sections collected in western Europe so paleontologists haven’t been able to assign it to a particular family. It has been considered an early dromaeosaur but it might be a relative of early tyrannosaurs.
Few teeth reach the market so you better grab this one before a French collector sees it.
