Shark.
Squatina is one of the most ancient of the modern sharks. Present since the Jurassic, the angel shark spread around the world during the Cretaceous and early Cenozoic while the continents were still rather close together. It has survived minor extinction events and one major one mostly by minding its own business and not trying to rule the oceans unlike some other sharks I know.
