Mammal, Primate
Necrolemur is a genus of primate in the Family Omomyidae. It lived at a time when primates were becoming uncommon in North America and Europe as tropical forests were well on their way to being replaced by the open woodlands of cooler, drier climates. Like its relative, Pseudoloris, it was one of the last omomyids which may have been ancestral to modern tarsiers of southeast Asia.
Not too many dealers handle primate fossils especially the early ones. You have to know what you’re looking at. We used to buy from and deal with the late Geert Nijboer, one of the most knowledgeable dealers around – a true expert on a wide range of mammals.
