Description
Early Cretaceous
Tegana Formation
Taouz, Morocco
10mm claw
Dinosaur, Theropod.
In general a vertebrate other than a bird has fewer claws than teeth. The keratin sheath disintegrates after death leaving the bony claw core which starts to fragment from moisture infiltration and external erosion. This leaves a fossil claw a rare find whether it’s a bird or dinosaur.
This claw is not identifiable due to the fact that there have been few studies on any of the Moroccan dinosaurs and there seems to be a number of genera present.
