Description
Hypsilophodon foxii
Other Ornithischian
Early Cretaceous (Barremian)
Wessex Formation
Brook Bay, Isle of Wight, England
Extremely rare 31mm jaw section of this iconic ornithischian.
Hypsilophodon is one of those dinosaurs we saw in children’s books on dinosaurs (always seemed to be up in a tree), but as adults, we hardly ever see fossils of it. Most of the dinosaur bones found at Brook Bay are fragments worn smooth by the sea. Something like this is highly-prized by local collectors and almost never reaches the marketplace.
