Description
Nostoceras malagasyense (Collignon 1971)
Late Cretaceous (Campanian)
Belo Tsiribihina, near Tulear Madagascar
93mm heteromorph.
Nostoceras is a genus of heteromorph ammonite known from Late Cretaceous localities all over the world (Alaska, California, British Columbia, Arkansas, Texas, Mexico, Columbia, Angola, Madagascar, New Zealand, and Japan) yet it is uncommon at most of them. Even where it’s common, it’s tough to find a complete one because of the fragile, loose-curling part of the shell.
