Stephanoceras is a genus of ammonite known from the Jurassic of various parts of the world (Canada, Mexico, Tunisia, Saudi Arabia, and Russia). It is used as an index fossil to mark a particular interval of geologic time within the Jurassic period.
Presented is a beautiful example of a classic ammonite preserved in matrix.
