Description
Arthropod appendage
Ordovician
Fezouata Formation
Mecissi-Zagora Region, Draa Valley, Morocco.
103mm appendage on 149mm slab.
Arthropod.
The Fezouata Formation allows for the preservation of Early Ordovician soft-bodied marine organisms just as the Burgess Shale did for those of the Middle Cambrian. It’s a another chance to see soft-bodIed animals and the soft anatomy of animals with shells. Overall it’s an opportunity to see a fuller picture of life at a particular time in a particular region. So many other formations are sparsely-fossiliferous or yield a fraction of the diversity that must have existed at the time.
Here’s is an appendage of an undetermined arthropod for the collector who would like to have a sample fossil of this remarkable deposit.
