Description
Middle Cretaceous (Cenomanian)
Hajoula, Lebanon
Very large 147mm (5.75 inch) horseshoe crab on squared 255mm x 225mm slab (10 x 9 inch). Best we have ever seen
Crustacean.
Here the lovely Lucretia displays a fossil horseshoe crab. Horseshoe crabs aren’t actually crabs. They are more closely-related to spiders and scorpions. Some collectors try to find examples of them from different points in their history and this is a nice one from the Cretaceous of Lebanon about 95-100 million years old.
