Crustacean,
Isopods are uncommon in the fossil record, dating back to the Carboniferous Period. In fact, they are first-known from the Mazon Creek fauna. Today, scientists sometimes bring up big ones the size of a lobster from the depths of the ocean. Most are small like the “pill bugs” you found in your grandparents’ garden.
