Description
Marrella splendens
Cambrian
Burgess Shale, Stephens Formation
Field, British Columbia BC Canada.
20mm iconic Burgess Shale specimen.
Marrella is an extinct genus of arthropod apparently found only in the Burgess Shale although related forms (marrellamorphs) are known from elsewhere in place and in time.
While it’s been said to be most common animal in the Burgess Shale, that doesn’t mean it’s easy to find on the market. Demand started outstripping supply back in the 90’s.
