Description

Early Ordovician (Arenigian)
Upper Fezouata Formation
Zagora, Draa Valley, Morocco

38mm complete synziphosurine with corthunocystid echinoderm parts and graptolite on large 160mm slab.

Here’s an interesting association showcasing an unnamed synziphosurine, which is a member of a suborder of arthropods that was ancestral to the Order Xiphosura, the group that includes the extinct and modern horseshoe crabs.

This piece has specimens from three different phyla and the synziphosurine is well-preserved. Highly unusual.

Video is a 3D scan of a related Silurian specimen
