Description
Softbodied Arthropod
Upper Cambrian
Weeks Shale Formation
House Range, Millard County
Utah, USA
26mm arthropod on 40mm slab. Extremely rare.
Arthropod. Soft-bodied.
Here’s a yet-to-be-named arthropod that would not have been preserved in most Cambrian rocks but the magic chemistry of the Weeks Formation has allowed to be brought to light along with a little help of a preparator.
It’s a specimen that is vaguely reminiscent of a trilobite but leaves even a seasoned collector wondering what it is. It’s another reminder that the diversity of arthropods in the Cambrian would be unmatched in later ages.
