Description
Miocene Bird egg
Miocene
Montaigu le Blin, France.
42mm egg with some intact bones. First we have ever seen.
Bird. Rare.
Bird eggs are quite rare in the fossil record and known from just a few localities. It’s almost unheard of to get a fossil bird egg with bones. The egg must have been close to the time of hatching for the bones to be well-formed.
