Description
Maniraptoran Theropod Leg – Dzharaonyx sp.?
Cretaceous
Bissekty Formation
Uchkuduk, Uzbekistan
Stunning, black theropod dinosaur foot. 490mm (19.2 inches)
Color is most likely from an iron mineral like hematite. As far as we can tell it’s all original except for one claw and one phalanx with minor repair to cracks and breaks. We suspect this might be an alvarezsaurid, a strange carnivorous dinosaur with paired “digging” claws. See:Wikipedia – Alvarezsauridae
