Seed
Early Eocene
Green River Formation – Parachute Creek Member
Rio Blanco County, Colorado, USA
Two 4mm seeds on 57mm matrix.
Here is an unidentified seed from a time when Colorado had a much warmer climate – hot enough for alligators and palm trees. The Early Eocene was the warmest interval since the days of the dinosaurs with tropical forest covering much of the continents. Even Antarctica was ice-free at the time. Climates would start to trend cooler a few million years later.
