Here’s an unidentified insect that lived around the time flowering plants appeared on earth.  In fact, some of the earliest angiosperms are also found in China.

Many Cretaceous insects can be identified to at least family based on wing venation by an entomologist but some now-extinct groups existed then so identifying this one might require the expertise of a paleoentomologist.  In any case some collectors like a mystery and pick up unidentified stuff on the chance that it might turn out to be something unusual.
