Description
Flower
Cretaceous
Vicinity of Maingkwan, north of Mogaunga, Myanmar (Burma)
6mm flower in 12mm Burmite amber.
Plant.
Fossil flowers are uncommon, and of those found, most come from Eocene-Miocene deposits. This one is preserved in amber which allows the flower to be viewed just as it was when it was caught in tree resin about 90-100 million years ago. We might never travel into the past but we can see into it through gold-colored glasses.
It still looks fresh as a daisy.
