Description
Cretaceous flower
Cretaceous
Vicinity of Maingkwan, north of Mogaunga, Myanmar (Burma)
6mm flower in 18mm Burmite amber.
Plant.
Most fossil flowers on the market are Eocene-Miocene age. Here is a specimen from when dinosaurs still walked the earth. It’s more than twice as old as Dominican Republic or Baltic amber and yet the flower still looks as fresh.
Amber might be as close as we will ever get to a time portal – a window to the ancient world.
