Glyptostrobus is a genus of conifers that appeared during the Late Cretaceous and was well-established in North America during the Paleocene and Eocene – enough to contribute significantly to coal deposits of that interval. Today, it is represented by a single species informally called the Chinese swamp cypress tree living in southeast Asia.
