Description
Siroccopteryx moroccensis Mader & Kellner 1999 — Family Ornithocheiridae
Cretaceous
Tegana Formation
Taouz, Morocco.
Rooted 42mm pterosaur tooth. Best we have ever had.
Siroccopteryx is a genus of pterosaur that lived during part of the Cretaceous (Albian-Cenomanian). It was described based on just the front part of a jaw with teeth although pterosaurs of the Ornithocheiridae tend to be represented by rather fragmentary specimens. So far, Siroccopteryx is known only from sites in Morocco though it has relatives known from Texas, England and Brazil.
