Description
Reptile
Late Triassic
Bull Canyon Formation
Guadalupe County, New Mexico, USA
Excellent 0.2 inch tooth.
Many extinct reptiles are known only from isolated teeth or jaw sections or bones – often not enough for a formal name. Add to that, the teeth are also often very similar in form. Is it the tooth of a small already-established genus? Could it be from a juvenile? Is it new to science? The Bull Canyon Formation vertebrates have gotten some attention in recent years but a lot of study remains to be done.
